It has been some time since Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire has been out and Pokemon fans are itching for another game – even if the game isn’t part if the main series. Well, poke-fans, Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon has officially been announced. Fans who have played the Mystery Dungeon spin off before know the general idea of the game – you’re a human who has been turned into a pokemon and must now become part of a pokemon rescue team, complete missions and assignments, and gradually you will learn more about how and why you were turned into a pokemon.
Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon does seem to improve upon some things judging from the previews. One such thing is the graphics. Those who have played Mystery Dungeon before know the artwork that is depicted is very expressive and that the graphics have been decent enough. The screenshots that have been released and the Japanese preview shows greatly improved graphics and artwork. As you can see in the screenshot (left), the characters appear much more smoothly designed as compared to the older games. Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon has shown that it is stepping up to become a more three dimensional, more player inclusive game than it has been in the past.
The game has also added some newer pokemon! Now players have the chance to play as Fennekin, Froakie, and Chespin as well as the past Pokemon starters. Pikachu and Riolu seem to also play a large part in the gameplay but it is uncertain if thy will only be partner pokemon or if they will be playable yet. This will be very exciting to Pokemon fans as this will also mean the inclusion of fairy type pokemon on their rescue team! The game will also include pokemon such as Hoopa which, judging from the screenshots that were released, will be an opponent that the player will have to battle. This isn't the first time the player has been pitted against a legendary pokemon, but Hoopa does come across as fairly intimidating in the screenshots - it actually looks pretty impressive! It is also nice to see how smooth the design is for Hoopa in actual gameplay.
Not much has been released pertaining to the storyline as of yet other than the fact that it will widely revolve around the legendary pokemon and that it will involve pokemon being turned to stone for some reason or another, but one thing is for certain - Pokemon fans should be at least intrigued by the game by what has been released thus far. The game is anticipated to be released in late 2015 or early 2016 depending on which region the player lives in and promotional 3DS themes are rumored to be given out to those who preorder the game.
